OUR CLASSES

The Pilates method was developed by Joseph H. Pilates (1880-1967). Mr. Pilates’ influences were drawn from the sports of boxing, diving, gymnastics, and the study of yoga. Pilates is a specialized form of resistance training utilizing a combination of unique equipment and exercises performed in a specific sequence on the mat.

There are over 500 exercise options to deliver a varied and invigorating workout. This method is designed to challenge an individual to develop core and trunk strength as well as overall muscle tone. Benefits include improved posture, coordination, strength, stability, and stamina. Pilates instructors work as as a team at Kiki Pilates Studio  to ensure that each individual achieves optimum results.

Pilates is the art of moving efficiently. It is an experience in neuromuscular re-education and re-circuitry, using unilateral foundation work to achieve superior physical function and excellent symmetry. Pilates targets the trunk muscles layer by layer, optimizing complete core strength, alignment & balance. Some forms of fitness training may cause wear and tear to your body…not Pilates. The Pilates method not only supports a longer, leaner body type, but also targets local stabilizer muscles, essential in the support of joint motion. In other words, strength is built from the inside out.
