EQUIPMENT CLASSES

1st class is on US

Joseph Pilates originally developed his method as mat exercises but he used several pieces of apparatus to help people “get the method in their bodies”. Each piece of apparatus has its own repertoire of exercises and most of the exercises make use of springs to provide additional resistance. At Kiki Pilates Studio, we offer small group (up to 5 people) Reformer and EXO Chair classes as well as private and semi-private classes where the instructor can use any combination of the studio apparatus available.

REFORMER

The Pilates Reformer uses pulleys and springs to create resistance. Exercises are performed on a carriage that glides back and forth along the inside of a frame, which responds to the effort you exert and the amount of resistance set up by the springs. Reformer exercises can be done lying down, sitting, kneeling or standing. Our studio has five reformers, which allows us to hold many small group classes at various times through the week. A reformer class will give you the best workout of your life.  Try one class and we promise you will be hooked!

PRIVATE PILATES EQUIPMENT

Private instruction sessions are the ultimate Pilates experience custom tailored to your specific wants and needs. All of the studio apparatus is at your disposal including the Reformer, EXO chair, Cadillac, Ladder Barrel, and Spine Corrector. A one on one lesson allows the instructor to observe how you move and respond to Pilates. This enables her to develop a personalized Pilates program to meet your needs and helps you experience profound results in the shortest period of time.

RESTORATIVE SESSIONS

Restorative Pilates emphasizes identifying movement patterns that can contribute to a person's pain and teach new movement patterns that aim to correct muscle imbalances triggering that pain. Our program gives the person several tools to maintain positive movement.  Clients gain greater confidence in their bodies, ease of movement and strength.  Restorative Pilates takes a therapeutic approach to the issues of chronic muscular tension, myofascial pain & stiffness. You will learn valuable tools for home use to release and relax tension in the body with small ball therapy. Restorative Pilates is taught by one of our on staff Physical Therapists who is also trained on all Pilates Apparatus

CADILLAC

The Pilates Trapeze Table, also known as “the Cadillac”, is a horizontal table surrounded by a metal frame with an assortment of levers, springs and straps attached. Joseph Pilates named this apparatus for the famous car because in his day, the Cadillac stood for All-American comfort, innovation and luxury.  Joe felt that the Trapeze Table, like the car, had all the bells and whistles you could possibly want in an apparatus. The Cadillac is one of the most effective pieces of exercise equipment ever to be engineered, however, because it requires a lot of client specific instruction, the Caddy is most commonly used in private sessions.

WALL TOWER

Wall Tower Class is a 55 min small group class limited to 5 people.  You will work with the tower apparatus to perform classic Pilates exercises.  Class is done on the mat box at the base of each Wall Tower.  Mat Pilates exercises are incorporated throughout this class. This open level class will challenge   beginners and those more advanced.

EXO CHAIR

The Pilates EXO Chair resembles a box with one side that can be pressed down against the resistance of springs, like a large pedal.  Exercises are performed lying, sitting, and standing on the chair, as well as from positions to the sides of the chair.  Our Exo Chair classes are usually combined with the reformer and are also limited to five participants.  Like the reformer, an EXO Chair class gives a complete body workout, allowing you to get at muscles you didn’t even know you had.

JUMPBOARD

Build strength; strengthen your core and burn calories as you jump on the Pilates jumpboard. Low impact jumping combined with Pilates exercises for a complete body and cardio workout. Fun and challenging!!

LADDER BARREL

The Pilates Ladder Barrel consists of a large barrel that sits approximately three feet above the ground.  The barrel is connected to a ladder of the same height by a sliding base that can be adjusted to accommodate different heights and levels of fitness.  Because of its design, the ladder barrel is an incredibly versatile piece of equipment.  The Ladder Barrel allows for stretching and strengthening.

SPRINGS

For those of you who love Pilates and want the burn too. Springs is perfect for those of you who want to get in shape and feel great! We embrace the original techniques of Joseph Pilates and his original “contrology”, Spring work will improve joint flexibility and range of motion as well as give you a great full body workout! The aim of "springs" is to make Pilates more accessible, using clear language and fast paced simple movement, rather than following the classical repertoire used in our other classes.

Springs is simpler in choreography, fast paced and there are less moving parts so you can get a great workout no matter what your fitness level is!
