Kiki Hanson, NPCP
Owner, Kiki Pilates Studio

Kiki has trained in both contemporary and classical Pilates, and recognized early on that the classical system is the foundation that delivers clarity, structure, and real results. That approach now defines how she teaches.

With over 20 years of experience, her sessions focus on breath, alignment, strength, and how the body actually works. She teaches the person in front of her—not a template—so you leave stronger, more organized, and more connected to your movement.

No fluff. Just work that works.

Come as you are.

1.What’s your favorite Pilates move and why?

Tree because it increases hamstring flexibility and cross body awareness while lengthening the spine.

2. What inspires you to stay active and healthy?

I love to dance and feel present in the moment. Pilates increases my stability, balance, mobility and allows me to feel safe in my body. Whether I’m dancing, back bending or even walking down the street, I feel my body work harmoniously to take me on my journey.

3.Do you have any pets? Bonus; what are their names and quirks?

I have two adorable Shih Tzus, Sergio and Lincoln. Sergio love’s cuddles and long naps. Lincoln is only 6 months old and love’s making friends and borrowing Sergio’s toys.

4.What is your favorite dessert or indulgence?

I love ice cream! I will eat it anytime of day and even before I workout.

5. What's something surprising about you people don't know?

Most people don’t know I want to buy a van and travel the country to bring Pilates, Yoga and mindfulness movement to communities.

6. What's one piece of advice you'd give someone starting their Pilates journey?

I encourage people to be consistent and patient with the process. Change can take time and the reward is even greater. Start to bring awareness to your body and movement at anytime and anywhere. We are always in our bodies. The way we sleep, stand, sit and walk all create subconscious movement patterns. The more conscious the patterns become the more the Pilates method will transform your life. Be gentle and curious in your self observation.

1.What’s your favorite Pilates move and why?

On the Mat, I love the entire Abs series. It is the most difficult series on the mat but once you have completed you feel like such a “rock star”, so strong, and that you can do anything!

On the Reformer, I love leg circles and frogs. You feel like a kid again enjoying the fun movement and your body feels so much longer, stronger, flexible and open.

2. What inspires you to stay active and healthy?

My Dad died at the age of 49 from a heart attack so at a very early age I learned the importance of moving your body to stay healthy and well.

3.Do you have any pets? Bonus; what are their names and quirks?

I have three dogs (Scooby, Maddie, and Jessie) and the most amazing kitty on the planet (Hope). Scooby is a mix of many breeds and people like his crazy little turned out front legs and paws. Maddie is always giving kisses and thinks she is a lap dog even though she weights 50+ lbs. Jessie is a cute Sheltie who never stops moving! Hope belongs on the cover of Cat Fancy magazine (beyond cute) and she keeps all the dogs in line with a simple swat of her paw!

4.What is your favorite dessert or indulgence?

I love a mocha cake (some people call jelly roll) from Mike’s pastries in the North End. Absolutely to die for!

5. What's something surprising about you people don't know?

In my corporate job most people are excited to learn that I teach Pilates and Yoga.

On the health & wellness side, people are surprised to hear I run my own HR consulting practice helping companies attract, hire, and retain the most sought after talent in the marketplace.

6. What's one piece of advice you'd give someone starting their Pilates journey?

Fill your practice with modifications if your body needs some extra support and before you know it, you will be doing the full expression of a pose. You will be amazed how quickly your body responds to Pilates! The movements make sense to the body and you will get hooked after your very first class!

1.What’s your favorite Pilates move and why?

All the rolling moves! Roll like a Ball, Open Leg Rocker, Seal.  Why? Because they are fun! Once you get the move down, its super fun to roll like a 5 year old then hold at the top like a warrior!

2. What inspires you to stay active and healthy?

I aspire to live till at least 100 and still do yoga and pilates daily.  I also have lived an unhealthy and inactive lifestyle and didn’t like how it felt.  So doing the healthy things daily makes me feel my best.

3.Do you have any pets? Bonus; what are their names and quirks?

Yes! My furbabies are the best!  Boots, my tuxedo cat was my first rescue (with his sister Oreo, who is no longer with us - I miss her every day) and just turned 14.  He rules the roost at my house.

4.What is your favorite dessert or indulgence?

Bruno, was a 4 month old rescue that found me 12 years ago and he has my whole heart. He is gentle and perfect in every way. He loves to snuggle, loves lots of blankets and is my baby. And Grace, my husband rescued her at 5 months old from a terrible situation.  She was sick, fat and just needed some love.  Almost 5 years later and she is fit, trim, super happy and makes us laugh daily.  She is my “hot mess” but has become a huge part of our family. I even got her to start snuggling with me!

5. What's something surprising about you people don't know?

I have a Dairy Allergy that was discovered by accident when I went Vegan almost 6 years ago.  I am no longer vegan, mostly plant based  but have to make alot of my own food due to the allergy. (Especially desserts)

6. What's one piece of advice you'd give someone starting their Pilates journey?

Just start!  Don’t think or overanalyze.  Just show up and your mind will be blown at how much magic happens within your body!
